Issue 547 Better late than never! A Happy New Year to all our readers. Yes, it may be late again, but it really is a case of better late than never. This looks to be an "interesting" year on all fronts, who knows what madness everyone is going to get into. So, a round up of what's going on in the group. Golden Triangle is all quiet, as are 21 zeros, 23 zeros, Gribble and The Golden Triangle who have shrunk to 2 nations once again. 0000000000000, on the other hand, is where it's all happening at the moment. The return of the Addams Family means that there is a certain mischief about. Uncle Fester changed their nation flag to be nearly the same as that of Mictrasim after Mictrasim commented that they [still] get freaked out with Gravinex and Ercryllic having identical flags. Oh well, it's been done as a joke - but on who? |

Issue 548 End of the Road? It is with regret that we announce the passing 12 days ago of two of the oldest nations in the Golden Triangle group. On 28th February F1 loving insomniacs a resident of 0000000000000 since 2004 and Oooooh thats my button, who was a resident of Golden Triangle, both made the trip to the Valley of the Dead. They were joined by F1 loving insomniacs not so secret spies from 00000000000000000000000. There is always the chance that they may return someday. In the meantime, they will be remebered. |

Issue 549 All Change! I am pleased to report that the last article has to be updated. It seems that our venerable nations have returned, presumably to cause more choas. It seems that Oooooh Thats MY Button was troubled by cakes again. Yes, cakes! At least that is according to Couriers for B BG a, who then went on to remind everyone that the first reported incident involving the cakes made by Oooooh Thats MY Button was twelve years ago - that was in 2005!!! - an incident duely reported by this erstwhile publication. While we welcome back our three absent nations, we also need to note the passing of Lllllkjkjklllll01, the Golden Triangle WA delegate. Dabaxan and GTR52 suggested that the cause may be the after effects of Hellfire Facilitators "Special Brew" or "whatever it was that Lives Relived made". Considering that was consumed? during Founders Day celebrations some time before Lllllkjkjklllll01 was founded, the worry now is about the long term environmental impact that the use of such uncontrolled toxins is having on Golden Triangle. |

Issue 550 New delegate I am pleased to report that Eltandis has become the 7th WA Delegate for the region of Golden Triangle. Eltandis succeeds the previous delegate, Lllllkjkjklllll01, who has gone to the Valley of the Dead. The transfer of power to the new delegate has taken some time for various reasons. The main reason was that Purisgard is the only other WA member in the region and they went absent without leave for a while. Traditionally, Oooooh Thats MY Button has also been a WA member, but since their excursion to the Valley of the Dead they have let their WA membership lapse. Congratulations to Eltandis and let's hope for good times to come. |

Issue 551 End of the Road again? Again I hear you say. Who has gone to the Valley of the Dead this time? Well, depending on how you look at it, all of us or none of us. Confused? Don't be, it was only the April 1st outing of NationStates lunacy striking again. The April Fools debacle this year was a bit more unusual, it was essentially "Global Thermonuclear Warfare". Well, it was all a bit of fun after all. 0000000000000 set up a faction called the GTG Alliance, harking back to the glory days of the Golden Triangle Alliance on NS2 (It's hard to imagine that it has been nearly 8 years since the demise of NS2... Oh well!). The Golden Triangle Group Alliance was born and an intrepid group of warmongers (Is that the appropriate word?) set about decimating the NationStates world. Strategy was everything and with only 10 participating nations, the GTG Alliance annhilated their way through many fractions, reaching a global rank of 60th. That's not bad when you consider that the leading factions had several hundred nations involved. At the end however, the Alliance slipped to 90th position after it was targeted by several thousand nukes, and the intrepid 10 were erased, at least temporarily. For the record, here are those brave nations that took on the NationStates world: B - 0000000000000 A - The Xanthus Conspiracy B - Brunelian BG advocates A - Couriers for B BG a C - Brunelian BG crusaders A - Eltandis B - Notborn E - Tenormin D - Vishmall B - Ercryllic A - Golden Triangle B - 0000000000000 C - 23 Zeros D - 21 Zeros E - Gribble As you can see, all except The Golden Triangle were involved. That's understandable considering that The Golden Triangle is in a parallel dimension! It's also not entirely clear if Notborn was using thermonucear weapons, or just using the situation as an excuse to exercise their flying nuns....... |

Issue 552 Back again! Yes, we were here all the time, but subject to a news blackout covering the entire Golden Triangle group. All publications have been subject to emergency powers that we are still not at liberty to discuss. We have however been given clearance to restart regular news reports. Over the coming weeks, Internews will attempt to fill in some of those missing months. In advance, please bear with us as we obtain permission to publish retrospective news items. |

Issue 553 False Start! Those of you who are alert to these things cannot help but notice that this is the first post since July. The clearance that was mentioned in the last issue lasted for just a few hours before being revoked, apparently in the interests of national security. In the event all our media channels remain closed until now, when we have been given permission to say that we are still here, but unable to freely report the goings on in the Golden Triangle group. There are some positive noises coming our way that restrictions will be eased sometime soon. It reminds me of an issue some years ago asking if you were Cornish and that things will get done "Drekkly" (Interpretation - Sometime ranging from a few minutes to some point in the distant future, not yet determined but could be several decades away). So, I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year, keep your eyes peeled this way, but don't hold your breath. |

Issue 554 Happy New Year, eventually! There was I thinking that possibly the worst was over and Internews could get back to what it does best, when ouch – who changed the webserver. Well, the change to Zetaboards was a little unexpected to say the least. The forums look different now and the “Latest News” pointer is no longer present, making it harder to see what’s going on. Anyway, a Happy New Year to everyone who has managed to find their way here, better late than never! |

Issue 555 NationStates Trading Cards? Well, it’s April 1st again and it looks like someone has been scraping the barrel for an April Fool event. So this year it’s NationStates Trading Cards. I really don’t know how I’m going to summon enough effort to see what it’s all about, other than you get a heap of nation cards that you keep, junk, or trade. Why? I hear you say. I suppose the answer has to be “Why not?”. If this excites you, then go for it, it seems that you have a week to do something. |

Issue 556 Permanent NationStates Trading Cards Well, it was April 1st again and I reported that it looked like someone had been scraping the barrel for an April Fool event. So it was that NationStates Trading Cards appeared on the scene for a whole week. I really didn't know how to summon enough effort to persist in my efforts to see if the whole affair was worth the trouble, but I tried a few things. Why? I hear you say. I suppose the answer has to be “Why not?”, in the interests of accurate reporting. In the event, it seems that once every decade the powers that be of NationStates decide that the April fool event really isn't. Back in 2008 those who were in NationStates will remember the April Fool joke about the demise of the United Nations and its' replacement by the World Assembly because the real world UN got the hump and told us to desist immediately (I must be getting old, I remember the shock of this like yesterday!). Well it's now 2018 and the same sort of thing has happened again. The NationStates Trading Cards are to become a permanent feature. For what purpose I hear you all cry. I'll just say that I haven't the faintest idea, at the moment, but I'm keeping an eye on the developments happening on the main site forums. At present I'll just say - Don't hold your breath in anticipation. |
